A brief update on the Cause of Canonisation

Tivoli, June 19, 2022: Waldery Hilgeman updates on the latest developments in the Cause of Canonisation

I am Waldery Hilgeman, Postulator of the Cause of Canonisation for Igino Giordani. We are a team that works for the two postulations: Chiara Lubich and Igino Giordani (Foco). Our office is located in the International Center of the Focolare Movement in Rome.

For a number of years, Alberto Lo Presti carried out a great deal of work for this cause, together with Fr Silvestre Marques, who was the postulator until recently. As the new postulator, I was handed over the precious work that Alberto and the Igino Giordani Centre have done in all these years: a huge binder containing documents, the result of studies, insights and a lot of archival research.

After an initial study and consultation with the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, we are investigating some particular aspects of the life of Igino Giordani, his wife Mya and the mystical experience he had in Tonadico (TN) in July 1949 together with Chiara Lubich. These insights serve to better highlight what Foco’s personal experience with God was.

Meticulous research was also carried out at the Archives of the Holy See, where Igino Giordani worked for many years.

This is in summary the current status of the Cause and we are grateful to those who work at the Igino Giordani Centre and the General Archives of the Focolare Movement, whose commitment over the past years have made possible what has been achieved so far.
